Is any one planning on attending the A.S.I.A. symposium in June. I will be there with lots of "Zoot" and my wife to help out. Looking forward to meeting some of my OLF friends.

Bob, Good to here that you're going. The Vender's room was one of the highlights of the symposium in 2003. One of my favorite tables was John Hall's of Blues Creek. It was just piled with stuff. One hot item was sycamore binding strips. I saw several builders carrying them around.

To others that are attending, I recommend bringing a stash of cash. There WILL be things there that you will not be able to resist.

I may not make it for the whole symposium, but plan to make a day or so. Like Sylvan, its just up the road so I'll probably commute rather than stay over.

The Symposium is coming along nicely. We now have over 25 vendors
signed up -- pearl, tools, wood (including two European vendors), pre-
cut inlays, fixtures ... it's beginning to sound like you could equip and
entire shop with one cruise through the vendor area! (And everyone is
contributing to the Auction, so bring a nice, new credit card!)

The schedule is also coming along nicely. Among the things we've booked
are an opening talk by Michael Gurian, tracing the evolution of lutherie
from his days in NYC in the Sixties to the present high-tech/low-tech
options. Also coming are Sergei de Jonge (French polishing and classical
design), Linda Manzer and Tom Ribbecke (who, with Bill Moll, will present
a "Building your first archtop" workshop -- an incredible opportunity to
get started with the advice of three of today's finest archtop builders),
Amy Hopkins and David Nichols (Martin Custom Shop) will teach hands-
on inlay classes, there will be an engraving class ... and Dan Erlewine is
arranging the repair classes with people like Bryan Galloup, Cat Fox, and
others.

I should have the complete schedule posted on the website in the next
week.
